REPs Ireland Category Development

Monday 23 December 2013

REPs Ireland is delighted to announce that in 2014, new categories will be adopted by the register.

This will reflect both the job roles that exercise professionals currently perform within the industry, but also meet the demand that the industry will be looking for in the coming years.

In January, REPs Ireland will be forming an expert group to advise on appropriate categories. The expert group will represent all key stakeholders, including exercise professionals, employers, education providers, and allied professionals.

Anyone wishing to be part of this expert group will be able to apply to volunteer in the new year.

It is planned that after consultation and reporting that new categories will be published in the first quarter of 2014.

The standards that will be required to be met by exercise professionals to enter these new categories, will be developed by appropriate Technical Expert Groups (TEG) that will use current Global & European standards where available, as a template.

Developing categories that recognise the knowledge, competency and skills of our exercise professionals are crucial in the ongoing promotion of the the profession.
