REPs Ireland Council Members Appointed

Monday 20 April 2015

REPs Ireland are delighted to announce the appointment of the REPs Ireland Council.

After a recent open public invitation to all stakeholders, applications were reviewed, and at the recent Ireland Active board meeting, 8 applicants were nominated to become members of the council.

The selection of the council represents all stakeholders, by including professionals with valuable experience and still active in key roles. Education & Training, facility management and employment, exercise prescription and public facing services are all well represented by the council members.

This marks the next stage of development of the professional register and ensures appropriate representation from all stakeholders.

As the register develops, there are important industry decisions that have to be addressed, with assistance from Technical Expert Groups and sub committees as needed, the council will help to address these.

REPs Ireland would like to thank all who submitted applications to be considered, with the volume and quality of individuals demonstrating the passion and willingness to be part of the professionalization of our sector.

We will be making further calls for people to get involved in the decision making and development of the register, and we would encourage everyone to get involved.

As with other professional registers, it would be envisaged that representative committees will be formed in line with stakeholders. This will ensure appropriate consultation and communication with the council. These committees typically follow the groupings of Registered Exercise Professionals, Education & Training Providers and Employers. This will be developed in the coming months by the REPs Ireland Council.
